The staff was great. They were super nice. However, when you sit there for four hours and no one checks on you once, I find it rather disappointing. My son had to go to the bathroom. They walked him to the bathroom. He had to come back on his own and no one came back in to hook him up to his O2 sensor or his blood pressure cuff that kept going off and kept alarming. I had to take care of it and silence the alarms and put him on correctly because no one would come in to take care of my son. I think we should get a big deduction since the nurses weren't taking care of him. I was because nobody came in to help us or checked on us once the entire time. They did the initial check in, the doctor talked, x-ray, and nothing for over two to three hours. Not one person came in our room. So, very poor.

I would just say I was waiting for like over two hours for them to just do a simple 30-second cut to cut off a ring on my finger. So I think I waited way longer than I should have, being, as I was the only one in there.

staff said they would come back and check on me in minutes and end up being more than 20, even though I could see them sitting at the nurse station. Waiting for the second dose of meds.

Did not like the way the dr did things. Used a different meds then normal and did extra things that didn't need to be done.

A town the size of brookings needs to have more specialist in brookings and not outsourced to say Sioux Falls. Issue could have been resolved that night instead of the next day out of town.

All the staff were great to work with! They were very professional and personable which made the experience stress free. No one likes going to the ER, but after this visit I would just drop in to say hi and let them know how much they are appreciated!!

The nursing staff was wonderful when we came in. They were very helpful in trying to get my daughter her blood work done and get a line started so that we could possibly do a CT scan of her abdomen because she was in so much pain that we thought it might be appendicitis. The doctor in was very reluctant, too. He was really worried about all the radiation and more concerned about that than trying to get to the bottom of what was wrong with my daughter. We thought it was appendicitis. It turns out she ended up having a ruptured ovarian cyst on her right side. He did consult with the OB that was on call that night, which was great because they did give us information, which was wonderful, but he was just more reluctant to go ahead and do that. It might just be his personal preference, but for me, the nursing staff was more helpful and more wonderful in trying to get her done and evaluated to help ease her pain and get her back to recovery and being good and wondering if we needed surgery.

I would like to say that although everyone at the emergency department did a good job trying to take care of me when I went in, my issue still isn't resolved. And it doesn't really seem like anybody, you know, I said that they looked at my previous emergency stays and it doesn't really seem like anybody really cares too much anymore. So I still have pain and a hard time eating, drinking fluids and stuff. And I'm sober and still the problem hasn't really gone away, but I don't really feel the need to go in or see anybody anymore because I feel like nobody will do anything about it. So I'm kind of at a loss.

This was my second visit to the ER in a couple of days. During both visits, I was grateful for the quality of care I received and that they took my condition/symptoms seriously. Everyone involved from the time I arrived to the time I left was caring. Thank you ALL

The care and concern were evident. I felt well cared for in my distressed state. The one suggestion that I would make is to be sure that each individual who comes into the room indicates their name (first only is sufficient) and their title (RN, CNA, EKG Tech) and what they plan to do. As a retired faculty member in nursing, I indicated to the students who I supervised that introduction of who they were to the patient was important. Overall, the visit and ambulance ride to the Heart Hospital went smoothly. My pacemaker is functioning well. Thank you for your care.

I was not, no one introduced themselves to me, not the physician or the PA, the nurses did not introduce themselves also. They never washed the wound on my head. All they did was put a cold 4 by 4 over my wound on my head. They did wash my hands with 4 by 4, so I had no blood left on my hands. And they left me in the room alone and I had to send my husband out to request a blanket. I don't think the care at the emergency room in Brookings, South Dakota is good.

This was my second trip into the ER with either myself or my child. Both times I saw Dr. Qader and each time, months apart, he was extremely condescending and treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about. So he will be a reason why I don't come back there, unfortunately, because everything else there is great. But I did not like how I was treated both times. I don't know if it's just me or if he treats everyone that way. Thank you.

The female nurse that we had was phenomenal. She was fantastic and she is the only reason that I even gave you a one on facility. Dr. Qader, however, I will never return to the Brookings Hospital after two incidences now with him. He has got terrible bedside manners. I don't believe he has enough schooling or background to be a doctor. He gave me absolutely no reassurance besides reaffirming that my three-year-old was not dehydrated after a full day of vomiting and not drinking anything besides a little bit of water, besides telling me that she didn't have sunken eyes or cracked lips, even though the nurse also agreed that those are not necessarily signs for a toddler. Those are signs for an adult. He refused to give her an IV unless I requested it, which my insurance isn't going to cover, although I could tell you I know she is dehydrated.

The nurse I had was very sensitive to my situation. She was very calming. She just overall did a really great job and I thought she had a great bedside manner. She definitely made me feel calm about what was happening and the doctor was wonderful as well. They all communicated very, very well, wait times, the tests they were going to run, all of that different stuff. I was very pleased with my experience.

Unfortunately, my physician, who was very pleasant, kind, and explained things to me, didn't realize that there was an EKG on file that he could have accessed, which my physician did the following day. That would be my only negative about the whole experience. Thank you.

The nurse who helped me and my son was very nice, very kind, and even went above and beyond to try and help me find a hotel room at the end of the night. And that was amazing for a very tired, exhausted mother. So thank you very much.
