Brookings Health’s Extraordinary Nurses to be Honored with The DAISY Award

Brookings Health System announced today it is partnering with the DAISY Foundation to recognize the health system’s nurses and the extraordinary, compassionate care they provide patients and families every day. Starting in 2024, two Brookings Health nurses will annually be honored with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses®.

Registration Open for Childbirth Support Specialists Doula Training

Registration is now open for the Childbirth Support Specialists Birth and Postpartum Doula workshop scheduled for June 29 and 30 at Brookings Health System.

Safe Sitter Courses Open for Registration

Registration is now open for Brookings Health System’s popular Safe Sitter Class. Paramedic Wendy Long will teach sessions on Tuesday, May 29 and on Tuesday, July 23. Both sessions run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ambulance Station and Education Center, 2300 Yorkshire Drive.

Safe@Home Class Prepares Children to Stay Alone at Home

Brookings Health System will again offer Safe@Home by SafeSitter®, a program designed for students in grades 4 to 6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. The 90-minute class will be held on Tuesday, May 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and again on Tuesday, June 4 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Both sessions will be taught inside the Ambulance Station and Education Center.

Brookings Health’s Wound Center Team Achieves Wound Specialization Certification

As of this winter, all three wound care professionals at Brookings Health System’s Wound Center have earned their wound care specialization certification from the Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board.

New Portable X-Ray Produces Higher Quality Images and Enhances Patient Safety

Brookings Health System recently upgraded to a new, state-of-the-art GE AMX Navigate portable X-ray system. The new system produces diagnostic images with four-times higher resolution while using less radiation dose.
