Pharmacy

pharmacy.jpgOur team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians provide the best in expertise and knowledge and work closely with your health care providers to ensure medications are used safely and effectively.

The pharmacists talk to patients and their families to gather important information so critical maintenance medications are not omitted during the hospital stay and to help prevent problems with medications.

The pharmacists will ask questions about the following:

  • Current medications (including prescription and over-the-counter meds, herbals, and vitamins)
  • Allergies to medications
  • Adverse reactions to medications
  • Immunization history

This comprehensive approach to reviewing your medications can also help evaluate any problems with medications that may have led to hospitalization. The pharmacists work closely with your physician to adjust the dose of medications and to make sure medication questions or problems are addressed.

During your stay, the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians review medication orders, prepare medications, and deliver them to the nurses. Several safety steps are built into this process to ensure you receive the proper dose of medication and the correct medication.

When you are ready to go home a pharmacist will visit with you and your family to explain any changes to your medication and coordinate the changes with your local pharmacy.
