Frequently Asked Questions
I have my access code, but I can’t get signed-up. What do I need to do?
Remember your first and last name must be in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS and must be your formal name on record at Brookings Health System.
How do I sign up for the MyHealth patient portal if I haven’t been at Brookings Health System recently?
Call Brookings Health System at (605) 696-8000, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. or email us at MyHealthSupport@brookingshealth.org.
What if I forgot my password?
At the login screen there is a “Forgot Your Password?” link that will allow you to reset your password using the security questions you created when you signed up. You will then be able to set a new password for your MyHealth account.
If I leave a message, can I expect a reply by telephone or email?
We will reply using the same method that you have used to contact us. If we need additional information in order to help you, we may use email and/or telephone to contact you. Please do not send any confidential information via email as email is not a secure method of transmitting information.
Will all of my information be available on the MyHealth portal?
Most of your health information will display. Some reports that may display can include a discharge summary, history and physical, operative note, laboratory reports, medications, vital signs and your diagnoses/medical problems. Please allow at least 24 hours for your results to appear in the portal. Some information may be delayed until the physician has had a chance to review it. Patients discharged before January 1, 2012 will not have information available in the MyHealth portal. Any records not found in the MyHealth portal are available through the Medical Health Information (MHI) department at Brookings Health System.
How do I get a copy of any information that is not present in the portal?
You may still request a paper copy from the MHI department at Brookings Health System by calling (605) 696-9000 or stop by the front desk and ask for someone from the MHI department.
Information contained in my MyHealth portal is not correct. What do I do?
Only the physician that created the information can change it. If the medical information contained in a report is incorrect and it is important to your care, please contact your physician.
What happens to the information I edit myself in MyHealth?
Information that you edit on your own in MyHealth is not returned to Brookings Health System. Your MyHealth account will retain your edits, but you must remember to notify your healthcare team of any changes you make in your MyHealth account.
Will I be able to see my child’s chart?
Yes, until your child turns 18. Until then, you will be given an access code to create a MyHealth account for your child. Once your child turns 18, your child will have to get a new access code and grant you access if they wish. If access is not granted by your child, you will no longer have access to their information.
Why can’t I see my information from my doctor at Avera Medical Group or Sanford Health Brookings?
The physicians at Avera Medical Group, A Department of Brookings Health System, and Sanford Health Brookings have their own patient portal that you may sign up for separately. Please contact the Avera Medical Group clinic at (605) 697-9500 or the Sanford Health Brookings clinic at (605) 697-1900 to inquire about how to sign up for their patient portal. You may also click on the appropriate clinic link at www.brookingshealth.org/myhealth.
Will I be able to view my family’s information from The Neighborhoods at Brookview?
No. At this time those records are not available in the MyHealth portal.
