Yoder Named 2017 Rising Star Award Recipient

Marketing & PR Director Julia YoderBrookings Health System Marketing and PR Director Julia Yoder was recently named the 2017 Rising Star Award recipient by the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD), a personal membership group of the American Hospital Association.

The SHSMD Rising Star Award recognizes healthcare strategy professionals under the age of 40 who have demonstrated outstanding promise in their respective fields. Established in 2014, this award shines a spotlight on SHSMD members who are on their way to making significant contributions to their profession and the SHSMD membership.

Yoder attained her Master of Business Administration from the University of South Dakota and Bachelor of Arts in English from South Dakota State University. She joined Brookings Health System in 2011.

Yoder was selected based on her demonstrated achievement within her career, leadership skills, personal qualities, and innovation. Her exceptional communications skills, demonstrated expertise in social media marketing, and branding strategy established a new face for her organization, which was recently named to the “Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals” by the National Rural Health Association as well as the “100 Great Community Hospitals” list by Becker’s Hospital Review for the second consecutive year.

A leader in her profession, Yoder is past president of the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations. She is also a founding member of the Brookings Supports Breastfeeding initiative.

Yoder will be recognized in September at an award ceremony held at the SHSMD Connection 2017 conference in Orlando.
