Final Total to be Unveiled at The Neighborhoods at Brookview Open House

“Make this House a Home” Honorary Campaign Chair Ray LaRoche begins packing for the move to his new home, The Neighborhoods at Brookview. Thanks to the community’s generosity, Brookings Health System Foundation has achieved its $600,000 campaign goal. The total amount raised will be announced at The Neighborhoods open house on May 31.Brookings Health System Foundation has exceeded the goal set for the “Make this House a Home” campaign. In January, the Foundation announced its intent to raise $600,000 in funds by June 1 for The Neighborhoods at Brookview, the new skilled nursing facility.

The total raised will be unveiled at the open house ceremony scheduled for Friday, May 31 from 3 to 5 p.m. Distinguished donors will be acknowledged with a permanent display in the Town Center.

Brookview Manor resident and honorary campaign chair Ray LaRoche will participate in the official ribbon cutting for their new home.

“Make this House a Home Campaign” logo“This is one heck-of-a community,“ said LaRoche. “When people give their hard-earned money to help out those of us who aren’t able to do as much as we used to, it makes this old cowboy feel real good!”

While the health system was able to build the house, Brookings Health System Foundation asked the community to help “Make This House a Home” by donating funds that have been used to purchase items over and above the building project budget.

“Words seem inadequate when trying to convey our thanks for the incredible generosity of Brookings individuals and businesses,” said Foundation Development Officer Barb Anderson. “Donations have already purchased new mattresses and beds for every resident room. We filled the kitchen cupboards with new dishes, baking pans and utensils, helped pay for landscaping, a whirlpool bathtub, a projector for movies and there is more to come.”

Donations can be made to the campaign online at or mailed to Brookings Health System Foundation, 300 Twenty-Second Avenue, Brookings, SD, 57006.
